Software Architecture

Description
The ServiceManager framework and ServiceManager modules for a specific Galazar device family provides a complete, modular solution to all of the functions of that family of devices, including Device Configuration, Performance Monitoring, Fault Correlation and Protection Switching where applicable.
The key features for Performance Monitoring include:
-
Monitoring on all signals (e.g. DS1, E1, DS3, E3, Ethernet, SPI-3, SONET and SDH).
- Collection, computation and binning of all measured and derived statistics.
- PM collection for 1-second SONET/SDH and PDH counters.
The key features for Protection Switching include:
- Comprehensive Protection Switching solution for BLSR/MS-SPring, UPSR/SNCP and Linear schemes including Lockout, Forced, APS/MSP and manual commands.
- Protection for all Line and Path conditions including Signal Degrade
The key features for Fault Management include:
- Comprehensive fault correlation and diagnostics to ensure reliable fault detection.
- Integration with an existing fault management system for equipment defects.
- Integration with component interrupts.
Developer Interface
A comprehensive set of text-based tools is provided to assist in the software development and system integration processes. The text-based tools allow a developer to conveniently view system information and even modify the contents of registers during debugging. A number of other tools are available for a consolidated view of different parts of the device.
Simulator Integration
Software developers can integrate the control and management path software prior to having their hardware available by using the DeviceManager with a RAM register map. This can run on any development platform, regardless of whether it is an equipment-based environment or an RTOS simulator. This allows developers to test and debug both configuration and fault management systems prior to hardware availability.
RTOS Support
RTOS interface modules are available for Linux, Nucleus, QNX and VxWorks. Other operating systems can be easily supported by the development of an RTOS interface module.
Validation
Galazar’s Integrated Verification Process (IVP) ensures excellent software quality. We use the same software throughout the Galazar verification and development cycles to ensure the software is thoroughly exercised. This reliability and robustness frees the customer’s resources to implement additional features in their product, or simply integrate it with their management system.
Delivery
The ServiceManager framework and the ServiceManager modules are delivered in library form that easily integrates into an existing build system.
The ServiceManager and Service Manager modules are a part of the Galazar Manager Product Suite.
