General Description
The MXP2 is a highly integrated device for transport applications over SONET/SDH and OTN networks targeted at ROADM/DWDM and MSPP/MSTP platforms. With flexible client ports supporting a wide range of protocols and frequencies, the MXP2 enables development of any service-any port line cards and consolidation of a number of service specific muxponders (e.g. 10 x GE or 4 x OC-48/STM16) into a single, flexible, universal design.
The SFI-4.1 network interfaces can be configured to operate as either an OTN OTU-2 interface or SONET/SDH OC-192/STM-64 interface to support protected line cards in ROADM/DWDM equipment and redundant switch planes in MSPP/MSTP platforms. Ring Add/Drop functionality is supported at ODU-1 and STS-1/VC-4 levels.
The serial client interfaces may be connected directly to SFPs and operate over a wide range of frequencies to support many datacom, telecom and video protocols from 125 Mb/s to 4.25 Gb/s. While any signal regardless of protocol/format/encoding can be transported transparently and multiplexed with other signals, performance monitoring is provided for all recognized protocols (see Interfaces section for the list). A single SFI-4.1 client interface is available for higher rate client signals such as 10 GbE, 10 G FibreChannel and OC-192/STM-64. SONET/SDH client signals may be terminated and groomed at the SONET/SDH layer or mapped without termination into OTN containers. Recovery of all native client clocks is performed to allow client signals to be transported transparently across OTN networks.
As with all Galazar IC technology, the MXP2 is fully integrated with Galazar's industry leading and field proven configuration and management software framework. This framework provides advanced capabilities such as warm start, interrupt management and a wide variety of troubleshooting tools, and is accompanied by extensive hyperlinked documentation and customer system support.
